bendixx goes and remixes polish girl by neon indian

i'm having trouble keeping up with this crazy bastard. he made this song in a single day, and it took my 3 days to make a decent cover for it. he's already got another one almost done, so keep your eyes and ears peeled.

i've never understood that expression. what does it mean to peel your eyes? it sounds painful. nevermind, just CLICK THE PIC.

this is bendixx

click it, fools

you'll want to remember this name, you'll be hearing it a lot from now on. this is the alias for my friend anthony cross. i've been helping him out with album art for his music, and we're proud to introduce his first single, "This Is Bendixx"

shed your skin and begin anew

my newest creation. i've submitted it to threadless, so as soon as it gets approved, i'll be sure to post a link where you can vote on it. i can use all the support i can get, so i greatly appreciate anyone who can take a few minutes to vote!

drive until we find
a nice spot along the road
then take some photos

back in the fall there was a week where all of my friends would text in haiku's to each other and i just thought about it and wanted to try it out, but i think im out of practice.

anyway, this is natalie, a great friend of mine who i took a few pictures of on tuesday. here's one of the results. natalie has a great thing going on over at modemovement. if your anybody you'll probably want to check it out.

drippy ipod wallpaper stuff

whatever. here ya go.

spent a few hours setting up some back end stuff for my site today. i have a lot of work ahead ofm me, but my plan is to have something published by the end of june because i got $100 free advertising from google (for some reason) and it expires at the end of june. boom.

from the vault

as i was going through all my old stuff trying to throw/give away or sell things i don't need, i found some old photo's from when i took photography in highschool. i scanned them in and here are some of them. they are old and the scanning process made them look really dirty and dusty, but i kinda like it.

drip

after quite a few tedious hours of drawing, and a little refining on the computer, i've finished my current project! i just need to finalize the color scheme and it's off to battle it's peers over in the threadless colosseum! give me your feedback for colors, i would love to have as much input as possible!

sleep through the thunder

thats what i did this evening. and worked on this:

all area's will eventually be colored in, the lighter areas are just because i got lazy and am going to be digitizing it anyway. my plan is to use this as a full bleed pattern on a shirt with a low contrast. for instance, if the shirt is white, the black lines will be light grey or tan. i also wanna play around with multiple colors in crazy patterns, and maybe a gradient as well.

hello there, long lost friend of mine

yeah yeah, it's been a while. sorry about that. it's summer now, i've started building a site, and i'm about to go into overdrive mode so i can whip out some tshirt designs to submit to every site i can find so i can pay off all the debt i've accumulated from being in new york city without a job for a whole semester.

i have been updating my dailybooth on a somewhat regular basis, so don't forget to check that if there is nothing new on here. also if you click the ads, i get money, then have an easier time paying for everything required to start my own site and start selling stuff. just sayin'.

This isn't goodbye, it's see you later

just when I get some momentum going, I'm posting on a pretty regular basis, and I'm making a lot of progress on all the projects I've been working on, my computer craps out. I work at a computer repair shop, so I'm anything but helpless when it comes to fixing most computer problems, but this box of junk just won't start again. I've tried everything, and at this point, I can't even get the display to show up, much less the computer to actually boot properly. I'm stuck in a city where I have none of the tools I usually have to fix stuff, no spare parts, no adapter to even get my data off, and no money to buy stuff to fix it. Looks like I'm doin it old school. For the next 6 weeks, which means no or very few updates for here, unless I either get this working, or do it at the computer lab at our class/studio space, but the scanner is horrible there. I'm writing this on my iPod. At least it hasn't failed me. I'm going to keep drawing every chance I get, so once may hits, prepare for a flood of new stuff on here. I've got some pretty big plans for this summer, too. It's going to be great and hopefully you all will enjoy it to. Until then, my friends, that will be all. Good night.

procrastination - it's what i'm best at

kind of a fitting subject matter, considering i did this instead of the work i need to do for tomorrows class...

and for those of you who might want this as an ipod wallpaper:

a different sketch

not sure where this one came from... completely different than my recent work. i just sat down and started drawing and this is what came out. i kinda love it when that happens.

i'll wave goodbye to the moon

couldn't sleep last night, so i passed some time drawing this. i kinda like it. im going to remake it at some point, change the composition, add some color, and whip up a t-shirt design.

alex got bored, tried something new

today was one of those days where i just couldn't find motivation to do anything. nothing interested me today. i couldn't even watch a movie and give it my partial attention. as a last ditch effort to do something productive today, i decided to open flash and play around with the program which i haven't touched in years. here is the result, an unfinished little test.

new york skyline

this is a 4 foot wide panoramic view of the new york city skyline from across the hudson river. from start to finish, this probably took 20 hours or more to complete, which was done over the course of a week and a half. i'm going to try to get a higher-res image up soon, this one doesn't do it justice.

it was scanned in, and a series of 8 of these, using photoshop to tweak the levels and other elements to become less and less distinguishable. the prints will be around 3 feet wide and all 8 will be placed in a vertical grid. i'll be sure to get some pictures up once it's done being installed.

update!
super duper high res version now available

life's short, stunt it

another ipod wallpaper... once I get some free time (summer? maybe?) I have some big plans... maybe I'll drop hints once and a while, but probably not.

oh, and if your interested, check out my tumblr for some random images that strike my fancy. from now on, i won't post my work there, but check it out for a growing collection of pretty random images.

Monday, March 21

waiting is boring. doing is fun.

here's another ipod wallpaper for ya'll. i've got a big project for school going on right now, so this is all i've had time for. i don't want to give it away, so i won't...
if you were one of my close friends, you probably could have gotten to see it in person while i was working on it, but you internet folk will just have to wait until it's finished to see it. shame on you...

Tuesday, March 8

ipod wallpaper - just more of the same

counting sheep is for squares. when i can't keep my eyes closed, i draw lines instead.

and for you folks out there with gadgets, here's an ipod touch sized version:

Monday, March 7

ipod wallpaper - why wait until later when you can have it now

ipod wallpaper - finally, something useful from me

i'm going to try to convert lot of my illustrations into wallpapers for ipods, computers, etc. so that they can serve more of a purpose than just collecting dust on the abandoned shelves of a blog archive. in the future, i'll take size and composition of these mediums into account and create some more fitting designs, but for my older stuff, i'll try to do what I can do make it work.

to start off, here is an ipod touch wallpaper of one of my recent illustrations:

more coming soon!

lazy saturday

this is what i did with my afternoon. it took a lot longer than i was expecting...

Wednesday, February 16

I'm a tangled mess

i'm a little bored slash disappointed with the level of freedom (or lack thereof) in my design studio here at nycams, so i've just decided to spend the extra time i would have been working on class projects if they had been more involved on more drawings slash designs to go on here. not like i really needed an excuse, though.

i got bored with the website i had been making, so i think i'm going to start fresh. don't worry, it'll be worth the wait (probably not).

oh by the way: i splurged and got a bigger moleskine as well. first illustration in it.
